Graduation Goodies!
Had a great time today celebrating my friend's graduation. In honor of her big day I wanted to bring something special. It's REALLY REALLY hard to find graduation ideas/food/goodies that aren't for high school graduates. Then I found this on
Bakerella.
So here's my version of her really cute idea.
She suggested putting the Reese's cups in the fridge for a little while so they would peel evenly. That didn't help me. I think it might be more of the luck of the draw on if the bag you purchased has been beat up. I choose Ghiradelli chocolates that had a filling. In hindsight, that probably wasn't the best idea. A few of them were busted when I started unwrapping them. To hold the goodies up, I purchased some Styrofoam and spray painted in black. Actually I came running home from Walmart and sort of threw it at my husband with a quick "Here paint this before you leave for teeball while I frantically run around the house" comment.
I melted Bakers chocolate and dipped the lollipop stick in it before putting them in the Reese's cup. It helps to take a toothpick and make the hole ahead of time. If you try to use the lollipop stick, you will smoosh it.
( Not that it happened to me or anything, I'm just guessing.)Airhead sour belts provided the tassles and sprinkles from the cake decorating section became buttons.
A little more melted chocolate to hold it together and there you have it!
TAADAA!!!!! A few small notes...
1. You will need to chill them between most steps so that the Baker's chocolate hardens.
2. If you are using different flavors of Ghiradelli, consider using different color "tassles" to tell the difference.
3.Take your time, I was in a rush and they got a little sloppy.
